Awesome little write up from @thenorthface ・・・
Place #39 — Ski Santa Fe, NM. Fewer and fewer ski resorts allow uphill traffic these days, which puts the kibosh on avalanche-safe skinning before the lifts open. Not so at Ski Santa Fe, a small locals' mountain with one of the highest base areas—at 10,200 feet—in the country. Dawn patrol is a storied tradition here, and if you leave town before first light, you'll be cresting the ridge on Gayway just as the sun rises over the diorama-like Rio Grande Valley. From the 12,200-foot summit just below the radio towers, take your pick of steep-and-deep untracked tree shots. You’ll go from desert to alpine in just over an hour, and be back at the base with time for green-chile papas fritas in the lodge before work.
